Making chum with birdseed - 06/05/15 03:58 AM
I've read articles and watched videos about this. They usually use milo or corn but I don't see why this won't work?
I had a bag of wild bird seed get wet and started molding and fermenting. Gonna give it a try.

Bird seed might float Have you put any in water to see if it will float or sink, Just a thought let me know you might be on to something.

I have put it in water and soured it for a couple of weeks and it worked fine. It was just as stinky as soured milo.

I have two 5 gal buckets of bird seed/chicken scratch chum right now that are about one year old. Kinda stinky but kittys love the stuff.

Most of it sunk. Just the sunflower seeds floated. I think most of the seed is milo anyway. It was stinking when I poured it out of the bag!

It was bubbling earlier and I added a beer to it today. Smell is kicking up too.
