Wheat for souring Lake Fork - 05/03/15 07:15 AM

Where around lake fork can I get some wheat to sour to chum up some catfish? I am out of town for work and am gonna have my wife start it up now so it will be ready when I get home. If I was there I would go look myself but I'm trying to make it easier on her.

Not a big fan of chicken scratch. I prefer the wheat or milo. Thanks though.

There's a feed store in Emory, can't remember the name. It's on the corner of 69 and 19. I've bought milo there several times. Also, there's Hootens further north on 69, they probably have it too.

Range cubes work really good on fork, I use a 2' long piece of 3" PVC with a cap on one end and a screw cap on the other it has 3/8" holes drilled 3" apart down 4 sides with a rope and swivel drop it down on bottom in about 10 mins the cats find it, bait up and catch them

That is a good idea Moose. Probably gonna try that.

I also have a guy that hooks me up with cottonseed cake. He gets it in Oil City.

I was thinking about doing this to bait some holes in different places on fork. I used to have a slip at Joe pool lake and a guy in the stall next to me came out and refilled his every few days. LOTS of catfish were caught.

I have used milo for years but this year I mixed 50LB of milo and 50LB of wheat and that mix seems to work better for me.

If I just want a fairly small amount I buy a few bags of birdseed from a dollar store.

Apparently if I get some of Stubby's cheese bait I won't need luck. I hear the catfish just come up to boat and ask for a bite.

You sure can't go wrong with Stubby's bait. I have caught hundreds with it.

Lots of work with the PVC. Why would you use PVC instead of just throwing cubes in the lake?
