I have seen it in academy and cabelas, I don't shop at gander to often so I can't vouch for the lubbock location. It works great though!

when you cant find shad, chicken breast w/ dead red seems to be the best alternative. At times it even outperforms shad.

and ive seen it basspro and cabelas.

Re: Dead Red.... - 03/24/15 08:31 PM

Are you soaking the chicken breast in it or just spraying it? I bought some a few weeks ago and tried it with no luck but nothing was getting bites either so it might have just been a bad day

Re: Dead Red.... - 03/24/15 08:41 PM

I believe it works to "freshen" up old bait (normally when I only caught limited bait), or to help out if you are having to use frozen bait. I can't recall a time I have ever used it in conjunction with fresh caught.
amazon, academy, or direct from TC.

Caught my first Blue out of Grapevine on it, 13.5 lb.s. about 8 years ago.
I like it to " Freshen up " the Shad when it loses it's Mojo.

It is great when reusing bait. None of the Academy stores in my area have it. On Amazon it is an add on item. You can also order it directly from the Team Catfish website.

I had no luck at all with dead read. I spray all my shad with a black can of garlic spray i get from academy. It works great.

Re: Dead Red.... - 03/25/15 12:42 AM

Some days it will get me bit with fresh shad when that is not working some days it is just not in the cards. If you are using it on fresh dead shad I put some in the bag with them in the bait cooler and let it soak in or on shrimp or other alternatives the night before.

I have some of that in shad flavor. Do you use the Bang or Spike It brand ?
