Tawakoni Report & New Boat! - 11/30/12 03:28 AM
Well, the fishing down here has been red hot and hole-hum. If you are fishing for box blues or bigger channels, the fishing is really good. 18-24ft has been the ticket lately, small cut shad or punch bait have both worked. We've got lots of blues off of punch bait lately.
The bigger fish are scattered all over the lake. One day you can run into a pod of them, the nxt 3 days you are scratching your head wondering where they went. The most consistant bite for me has been in the 14-24ft range, which is the depth of water Teri got her 55 out of today. Don't be afraid to try other baits other than shad, we have had luck on a few different cut baits.
Speaking of bait, it ain't that easy down here. At least not for me. Some of the normal spots are holding some, but after two or three guys throw their nets, it scatters pretty quick. I've had decen't luck catching bait in 2ft of water on wind blown banks using the trolling motor. I got enough bait working the shallow shoreline to hold me over for the weekend, throwing for about 2 hours.
We have added a boat. The 21' Weldcraft Legacy is really fun. It's totally enclosed cabin allows you to bring your wife and kiddos w/ you when you come and fish w/ us. No more excuses now for WINTER TIME FISHING! Rain, wind, snow, sleet or rain...doesn't matter. And, it's comfy. I seats 6 comfortably and the huge back platform gives plenty of room for 4 to fish on the back and 2 on the front. It's equipped w/ a 1198 and i-pilot.
If you see us on the water or "hear" us stop by and say hi!
