spray in boat floor liner

I need to replace the carpet in my 2000 model Promaster.It is a 21' CC.I would love to rip out the old carpet on the front deck,rear deck and side walls and put on like a spray in bed liner material instead.Have any of yall done this?I would like to do it myself,because funds are kinda of limited right now.Any suggestions?

I've had several friends try to do the do it yourself liner. It's best if you use the right product the first time and in the correct application. The above link is for Shaw Coatings. They know what they're doing. The biggest problem with the do it yourself is weight distribution. Too much or too little on one side or one end and you'll irreversably change the ride and handleing of the boat forever. Might just save your pennies and have it done professionally. It's usually cheaper in the long run anyway.

SS, I did my 21' Starcraft with the Rhinolining roll in bed liner. It's been holding up well, mine has a wood floor in it, but I'll bet it would adhere to fiberglass just as well. It took a gallon to do it and in some spots I rolled 2 applications, where I walk a lot. Blue cats still make it real slick when they roll around in the bottom of the boat. The local auto parts store only had black, but I painted it once it had cured with deck and porch paint.

PS: In the summer when you're in shorts fishing, it will still take the hide off of knees when you slip.

I did my old boat with the roll on marine grade non skid from west marine worked awesome. and was still looking good when i sold it 3 years later. i think it was about 200.00 for the whole deal.

My rear deck is just marine grade plywood under the carpet and the front deck is fiberglass under the carpet.Would I have to prep the wood or fiberglass before rolling?

we all gripe about carpet in our boats, but if you do a lot of winter fishin keep in mind the liner will ice up quick. i was going to apply it to my pontoon but after this winter i will deal with the carpet.IMO

I have it in my xpress,advantage+ it isnt slick to stand on when wet. Holds up well. Disadvantages- Things slide around on it bad.

i took a 4 inch grinder with a verry rough grit sander pad and ran all over the fiberglass floor, but i will tell you that every thing i got that stuff on,it is still there.

Cheap alternative to the bed liner although it won't hold up as well is to go down to Lowe's which carries a non slip floor paint (contains grit) I used it on mine. It holds up well and only wears in areas where the traffic is extremely high, but a fresh coat about ever couple years takes care of that.

It's not expensive at $25.00 a gallon and the initial application only used about a 1/4 of that gallon, and one heavy coat is all it takes.

I'll never have carpet in another catfishin boat!

I just received a new Overton’s catalog yesterday and they have a product called Tuff coat and it comes in 8 different colors and it says it is a rubberized nonskid coating. I am thinking about using it this spring on the floor of my 86 Bass Tracker and keeping the carpet on the front and back decks.
