Beginners guide? - 05/14/18 05:41 PM

Hey y’all,

I am 99% of the time fishing for largemouth bass, but I have had some catfish experience in the carolinas and want to get back in to it. I was wondering if this sub could help me out to get me situated a bit in regards to catfish.

Not to steal secrets or whatever, but i am assuming the hot dogs/chicken livers/etc are still the go-to’s?

Octopus hooks and a weight? Bobber?

Im listening!

Carolina rig for stinkbait. Danny Kings, sureshot, cj’s etc. for channels
Santee cooper or three way with shad for blues.

If you're bank fishing I would use a Santee Cooper rig (a Carolina rig with a float above the hook). Circle Hooks all day! I set up several rod holders and put bells on my rods. The bells help a lot at night.

If you want the bigger cats (Blues and Flatheads) I would use live/fresh shad or bluegill. Cut carp is also great. Chicken breast works well and is easy to get. Pick a spot where the wind will be blowing towards the shore. Target flooded vegetation, timber and rocks.

For channels, worms, punch bait, livers and all things stinky!
