With this mild winter we had, you should've started a month ago.

There's also this guy to follow, but he goes nuts when people use weed & feed because of the Atrazine ingredient many contain.
Atrazine slowly kills plants and trees. He focuses on SE Texas.

I still use weed & feed with Atrazine because I want the weeds dead and don't have the patience to do all the things he says.

Yeah, it really pizzed me off. I noticed trees budding two weeks ago, put out some Halts because it's all I could find. Then it rained 2.5 inches, so I put out some more Halts last weekend and it rained 1.5 inches. My yard is now full of weeds.

If you cut the weeds short you can always claim an eclectic lawn

I hired a lawn maintenance company to fertilize my yard, they put out 8 treatments per year.

They have done wonders to my yard.

i use simizine for weed control in the fall/winter...it was in the Fertilome Weed & Feed i put out decades ago...simizine is the active ingredient in Princep Liquid...keeps weed seeds from germinating...might be too late

I've been using Nitro-Phos Weed & Feed with Atrazine, since the company is based here in the Houston area and is intended for lawns in SE Texas.

Not to go off subject, but I'm curious how tall or short yall mow your lawns?

I've read that its best mowing as tall as possible, as it the roots grow deeper and the blades grow thicker.
This way it gives additional weed protection.

I've been doing it already.
Compared to my neighbor's, it looks a bit shaggy but my lawn has a deeper green color.
