RHBC Championship Results and Pictures! - 11/19/16 03:34 AM

The Ray Hubbard Bass Club finished a hugely successful 2016 season with our annual Club Championship last weekend on Cedar Creek Lake. A record 66 members qualified this year and 32 boats fished. Temperatures were warm for November but Saturday there was a front coming through that brought a steady north wind in. Lots of limits were weighed in but bigger fish were in short supply. Sunday dawned with blue bird skies and a slight breeze from the east. Bites were much harder to come by and limits were sparse. When the dust settled the team of Garrett Macias and Bobby Finta went wire to wire, weighing 10 fish for 24.48 pounds to take the victory. The top four teams were within .85 pounds of each other. Every ounce counted! We paid out big bass for each day. On Saturday Kasey Bunch caught his personal best of 7.93 pounds to take the cash and on Sunday James Renfro caught a 6.77 toad for the money. Here are full results and pictures!

Vince, Mark and Dennis talk about their day on Saturday.

Jack and Fly Scheel had four for 6.72

Jason Hadley and Brandon Doherty had three for 7.55 on day 1

Eric and Evan Vidal had three for 7.63

TD's Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollon had four for 8.25 on Saturday

Daniel Rozell and Derek Sullivan had four for 8.65

As stated earlier, Sunday got much tougher.

The top five starts with Preston Smith and David Horton who weighed the biggest bag on Sunday with five for 13.37. Their two day total was 22.96

Finishing fourth were Chris Atkinson and myself. A late flurry of keepers on Sunday allowed us to weigh limits both days. Our two day total was 23.63

A nice cap (so to speak) for their great year was a third place finish for Ronnie Manning and Capp Peace. Their two day total was 23.94

Not pictured are our notoriously camera shy team of David Choate and Stan Browning. They had an outstanding weekend with a two day total of 24.13. Congratulations guys!

Here are your winners. A good friend of mine says "you have to get your five". They did both days and it took them to victory. Garrett Macias and Bobby Finta had a two day total of 24.48 took home the prize. Congratulations!

A huge thank you to Shellye Crawford for taking pictures on Sunday. We had boat trouble and were late getting back to the ramp with the camera.

Thank you to everyone that came out to fish with RHBC this year and there were a lot of you!

My heartfelt thanks to my officers. Tournament Directors Dale Rettman, Kelly Millhollon, Kenny Bunch and the entire Bunch family and Jack and Fly Scheel. Our Secretary Russell Olds (the idea man) and my voices of reason, Treasurer David Simmons and Vice President Preston Smith. You all did a fantastic job this year and I appreciate all of you!

That's a wrap for 2016. We will have the schedule for 2017 posted soon. Our first meeting will be Thursday January 12th and our first tournament will be Saturday February 11th. Come out and join us!
