SkeeterRonnie......."Day On The Water"....1/29/11...Update

On January 29th, I will be putting TFF'er SkeeterRonnie (Ronnie Manning) to the test.

He will be doing a "Day On The Water" on a lake that he will not find out about until we pull up at the lake or until he figures it out on the way. His lake might or might not be a lake he has fished before.

Now, for you TFF'ers, what lake would you like to see him attack?

I say...... Roberts, it's not to far, you both live in the Rockwall area. Plus we have 2-champs up there this year Ronnie.
It's really challenging up there this time of year.. Head way up Indian and chunk jigs in the creek channels with timber.

that is what i have always heard, and that would have been the place i went. indian creek. i love fishing rivers and creeks!

Does it have to be be on a lake with tough fishing ? I want to see some fish being caught. Put Ronnie on Sandlin or Cypress and let him show us how it's done.

Bring him to Fork, that lake will make or break you this time of year. Let him fish the same hours as our amateur open tournament on Saturday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Let him keep his best 5 and I will weigh them, we will see how he would have done against these team guys as a solo angler.

i would bore them to death mark. I would tie up to one tree and sit in one spot all day.

sounds like cypress springs. the lake is over run with small spots that dont get much larger than 2.5#!!! I feel your pain!

It's gotta be worse though, it was like fishing welsh earlier in the month. Nothing under 18" allowed if its a spot!

Lake Alan Henry is the Most difficult lake to learn patterns on.

You must have never been to Eagle Mountain. There is no pattern for EM.

Let Eagle Mountain learn him a thing or two!

Why not let him fish a lake yall can make a video on that someone might learn a thing or two from it? Instead of playing "stump the angler".
Better yet , tell him where he is fishing , allow him 2 rods as primary rods and 1 back up in case of problems and thats all he is allowed. You chose the bait or baits he will use. He doesn't get to know what bait/baits until the boat is in the water. Probably a better challenge than hunting down some cold mudhole and saying, " ha ha ha try this on for size big fellar" ... iMHO

Never have played stump the angler most guys have been on lakes that were full of bass. Some guys draw unlucky straw of weather.
The limited tackle doesnt work well. That's why we do "Tips and Tricks" on specific lures.

The reason we don't let some anglers know where there going is becuase you learn more from how they attack a lake they haven't internet prefished from buddies or reports.

Some guys know a week in advance, a little different set up for those as it's a different format.

I still say Lake Tyler would be good.. There are some hogs eating right now but you have to figure out what they want and it does change a little every day. A wide variety on the lake. And if you get stumped you can always call Shane Gibson..

I've caught some solid bass out of Benbrook just not very often.

We leave our street at 5am

You fish 5 hours from 7am to 12pm

We want to see how you start your thought process and how you start attacking a lake. Also how do you switch up on the fly and your thought process as the day goes on.

You will not be able to call people for info that morning, you can call one person starting at 9, and we want to see how that helps or hurts you.

So let the 2 hour window from 5am to 7am speculations begin...

I'll post the lake for the TFF'ers when we arrive at the lake.

I'll just give you my phone to hold. Phoning a friend at 9am would hurt me and my thought process. It would make me have to start completely over from scratch. It is better to use the knowledge I have already acquired and work off it. I wont go into detail any more until tomorrow. Looking forward to this.

I will say that these articles are not to throw someone under the bus or to put a angler in a position that I know they will struggle.

No one learns much from a guy who is having a bad day on a lake he knows is tough, and anglers don't want to be on film when there in that state of mind sometimes also.

The key...no matter what lake....from now on with all these videos is to make sure the TFF learns some little something. Every Angler thinks different and has a little style and nitch that we can all learn from.

So today I will be putting Ronnie in a position whether a little out of his comfort zone or not, that will give us videos to enjoy.

Also remember that if a angler is really teaching....and all others who have done this can vouch....I will shoot tons of videos almost not allowing him to focus on fishing...

Thank You Casey and the TFF for this wonderful adventure. I have a great time, and fished a new lake. I had never even seen or read anything on this lake before today. It was a challenge for sure.

Oh boy!! From the way Ronnie sounds he wacked um today. He as back early from the lake too.I am guessing he caught at least a 7 lber and had 20 lbs by noon.

You would suprise yourself Nathan. Hubbard may be tough as heck, but it has taught me a LOT over the past couple years. I bet you would be fine, because fishing Hubbard is similar to fishing a new lake everytime you go out there.

Being on camera is pretty easy for me. I dont get that type of anxiety. The only anxiety I get is from financal situations. I have a lot to learn still(fishing-wise), and I try not to force my speculations onto folks as fact. I only present it as I see it, which may be entirely wrong... I could use a good class on baitfish and crawfish life cycles and behaviors.
