Looking for Advice from somebody who has tied their own jigs

I have never tied my own jigs but always wanted to try it. I came across this deal and while I can tell they aren't top quality or colors of choice, the price is right. 350 jigheads ranging from 3/8 to 5/8 oz with weed-guards a lot like NuTech Jigs. Hard to tell but the picture of them in bags shows quite a few in deeper greens, browns and blue colors as well. I can get them all for $50. Anybody with experience tying jigs care to chime in about whether or not this would be a bad purchase? Am I that much better off ponying up and buying the jigs that are literally 20x the price of these?

A jig is the ultimate bait to get all the good things on it to take advantage of every little detail that Mr. Bass would like to see, taste, smell, hear and sense.

Sight-I want the biggest eye on my jig that I can get on there. This concept stems form my old school philosophy that when a Bass takes its' pray, it looks it in the eye. The flat base has a prism surface. Your jig does not have a flat base; so an EYE cannot be added.

Taste/Smell- I wanted the jig to have the living rubber skirt that is saturated in Crayfish 100% Oil. The trailer is also hand poured and scented. She will be able to taste and smell the package. This concept comes with building a skirt with scent. The living rubber skirts have the Crayfish Powder scent poured in with the tabs. Then each skirt goes in an oil bath until ready to go on a bait. Each skirt is tied on the jig with Copper wire. I build these skirts and you may want to consult with me to learn how to do this with your jigs.

Sound- MY 3/4 oz. Jig eyes are rattling eyes which eliminates the rattle chamber. I want her to hear it coming and it is loud. The 1/2 inch dome BB eye really puts out the sound. The brass eyed jigs are the loudest and the BB rattles a tune that the Big Bass cannot resist. All my other Baby Doll Jigs come with the 3D prism eyes which you cannot put on this type of jig head. Now you will want to put the SPIDER Keeper on you jigs behind the skirt to house two rattles. The eyes are out.

The Trailers: All my trailers are hand poured with Craylic Scent. Your jig does not have a trailer keeper; so you are going to be using clue quite often to keep them in place. This is very time consuming during your day of fishing; but it can be done.

BIG BASS
The first older gentleman 36 years ago that I fish with in Texas, told me this as he had observed several big fish roll on their side and look their pray in the eye, as they were stalking live pray in the water and told me that he believed in the big eyed jigs that he made and called them his Baby Doll eyed jigs. He had also caught Bass on the bed and observed them do the same thing to his big eyed jig.

He would literally take a hammer and beat the jig flat on the sides and drill a small hole to glue in the largest baby doll eyes he could get on the jig from the hobby shop. They were the flat disk rattling eye known as goggle eyes with a peg on the back.

I do not see a way to fabricate your jig to accommodate an eye by doing this. Your purchase is worth the money though. Some things can be done to help the jig catch fish; but not all that it needs to be the best. With only a few bites per day in our lake, I would want a better jig with all of it fish catching abilities in place.

Those are some odd looking jigheads but they should work if you're dead set on the price. I just buy the BOSS jigheads and then buy the skirt material. I only do it for fun so I don't mind paying 5-6 dollars per pack of jigheads. They're the best ones on the market that you can get. Durable paint job, quality weed guard, and it comes with a Mustad hook that won't bend. Can't beat that.

bibass94, I agree they are odd looking jigheads.
The major selling point was the price but I decided to pass on them. I'm a major tightwad but a sucker for a deal and tried to talk myself into these but finally chose to go for quality. Thanks to both of you!

I think you made the right decision passing up on those jig heads.

I like the jig head shape--sort of a cross between a banana head and an arkie head.

The quality control on those pictured is questionable (paint in the line tie, looks like weed wacker line for weed guard, hooks look like those cheap hooks the original chatterbaits came with)

like collincounty said look at the hooks. It doesn't matter what they look like if the hook is [censored]. When I fish jigs im looking for the biggest bite in a school or an area and definitely don't want to rely on something that might bend or dull on the first tree or fish.
