Well, I got the Iwata Neo for Christmas. Do you guys use the oil-less compressors? Someone told my girlfriend when she was buying the airbrush the little compressors were annoying and to just run a long hose from my regular shop compressor and it will be fine. Is this true or do I need to pick up an oil-less setup? Also, I plan on dropping by Hobby Lobby after work to get some paints, cleaning stuff, hoses and supplies. Anything you guys recommend I get to make learning a little easier?

I suggest creatx or wicked colors both of which I get through Amazon and go ahead and get a small compressor they are very quiet and just right for the small amount of pressure you will need. Have a blast and good luck!

regardless of the compressor you get make sure it has a tank to hold some air reserve. that way it only has to run to repressurize the tank and not every time you hit the trigger on the brush.

agree with bcd, I run a small oiless airbrush compressor with a 1/2 gallon tank and cooling fan. I have burnt up 3 that didnt have a cooling fan but that happens when you run them for 6-8 hours straight.

BC's compressor advice is spot on. If you use your shop compressor be sure to put a moisture filter of some kind between the compressor and your airbrush. Check out the "tips and tricks" post on this site for some ideas on tools and supplies you'll probably need. You may want to spend some time on the Tackleunderground web site. Folks there know their stuff and are willing to advise when they can. From my experiences, it's best not to skrimp on tools or paints and you'll save $$ in the long run. Hope this helps. It's a great hobby, enjoy!
