Blue Moon - A Jig Shot

Blue Moon - A Jig Shot - 03/17/16 05:25 AM

The casual observer that reads the bass or plug section on TFF may have seen a mentioned or two of a recent book published by John Lee Smith (TFF’s Spring Lizard Waterdog). Back when SLW was working on it, he asked me if I would shoot a few images for it.

Now that it’s out, I thought some of the jig makers in the tribe might appreciate one of the jig shots I captured for John. Instead of a typical white background product shot of a jig, John asked me if I could breathe life into one of his favorite jig combos that uses an old school Uncle Josh's Spring Lizard, and show an action shot of it falling...

My mission was similar to the waterfowl flight shots I spend a lot of time chasing. For waterfowl I strive to keep the eyes in focus but still show wing motion. In the case of John's jig, I was shooting for focus, bubbles and motion as it dropped into a tank; along with a composition that helped bring the jig to life.

Here’s one of my favorite shots from the shoot. Hope you enjoy ~ Blue Moon
