Topwater Hooks

Topwater Hooks - 06/02/17 04:56 AM

Last week I was letting one of my friends borrow a topwater lure as we were chasing stripers. He observed that my hooks were rusty, and I need to trade them out. As a result, I bought a bunch of treble hooks today that I plan on putting on my topwaters. Where my question is, I decided to go with pretty small hooks (size 6) as opposed to larger hooks (I think they typically come with 1-3s). My rational is that if I have smaller hooks, there will be a better chance of getting more hooks in the fish and getting a better set. What are your thoughts? Regardless, it should make it nicer for sandies.

I figure hooks came size they did to balance the bait . I may be wrong wouldn't be the first time.

I just sharpen my rusty red fin hooks with a file. At PK a big fish takes the Red Fin with her to the Trees any way about once every two weeks.
