A Lake Somerville report 11/12 - 11/12/16 11:55 PM
So I had an open seat for a veteran today but no taker.
Any way I needed some shads for my annual trip down to Galveston for flounder fishing. Normally I use gulps artificial baits, but those darn thing are so expensive. A school of trash fish would tear up a few bags in no time. Came up with a solution. Catch shads at the lake and tipped them on cheap artificial baits with shads. Works just as good or even better a friend told me. Caught all the shads we needed today and had some time to spare so me and my son throw out a few crank baits and see if November is as good as Mr.Bob said it would be. Well it was GOOOOD!!. I had a few biggun straighten out the hooks and lost it at the boat. All fish fight like a horse on steroids today. My drags has never scream so loud or so much as did so today. You guys better come on out and fish Sunday or before the next major cold front while the bites still good. Find them big whites and the hybrids are mixed in or very close by. All fish were caught in 15'fow or less. Fish are easily spooked. It is recommended to find a school mark them, then cast toward them.
Tomorrow flounder report guys.
Plenty of live shads. Look for them early and late evening in back coves
Big fish of the day. Almost 24" Had few straighten out the hooks. Might of been the 10 pounder I was looking for. One whip of the tail at the boat and Shamu was gone.
Nothing beats watching your son bending rods fighting a big old hybrid
A lot of hybrids to the right side of boat on this screen shot. Side scan eliminated the guessing which side of the boat or how far away they are from the boat,so all my cast were concentrated to the right side of the boat. Them hybrids always make sure to stay a good distance away from your boat. So casting far and work that bait back was key catching them hybrids today. Forget about spot locking on top of them. Shallow water fish act a lot different than deeper water fish. So you must adjust accordingly
Butter flies enjoying the last spring like weather
Them crappies guy's
Lake were in perfect conditions. If you weren't fishing this weekend you miss out
