Trolling Rig

Trolling Rig - 04/07/16 12:19 PM

We have done lots of work on the bass side, now its Striper time! We will have our trolling rig up on the site this weekend and think it will give you Trollers another option besides a Deep Diving Crank Bait and PetSpoon. That type of rig is great and catches fish, but gets expensive when you get hung up!

Our trolling rig, flash spinner, and cannon ball weight will keep you lure in the proper depth and strike zone! We have a few in the field now, but want to give out a some more. Text me your name, address, and email and we will send out 4 more RigKits! First 4 win smile No purchase necessary?? 214-906-3847

Not a trolling expert, so will let Rex chime in on this rig and how it works. sounds like you can slow your speed down and when you hang up.....you lose a cannon ball weight, not a $ 6 crankbait

The main reason I have used crank baits at Texoma and PK is the rattle. If you really want to replace the crank bait you have to have a noise maker to help the fish locate the bait. Sand bass fishing at PK two weeks ago during the spawn was a perfect example. I could catch a sandie every 5 or six casts with a roadrunner over the spawning beds but when I put a roadrunner AND a white crankbait on I caught two fish EVERY cast.

Nothing makes a rattle in the water but that noise will help you catch more fish.

Those could be a good option for Kayakers like myself. You may want to post it in the yak section too.

Yep.

You take the wire spreader, tie your main line on the bend. Tie your lure on to the end straight back. On the short arm you time some light leader, 8-10 lb and tie your weight to that. You only need about a foot of leader to the weight. Lure should go back about 3-5 feet.

You'll no longer need to troll at 3 mph to get that deep diver into the zone. Most people will do fine with a 3 ounce weight and trolling about 1 mph.

By using different weights you can actually put out quite a spread.

If you want a rattle troll a rattle trap.

Also if you want to add a LOT of flash then head over to www.Shortbusflashers.com and pick up your choice of 5.5" flasher in your color choice. If you go with one of those let me know and I'll tell ya how to rig it. They also create quite the thump in the water while rotating.

I'm headed to the water next week, weather permitting, to give it a try.

A little bird told me that Mike has decent supply of the trolling stuff right now. Sinkers, spreaders and spinners.
