What type of sonar do you use when you are spot locked?

I used SI when I'm driving and looking for fish but when I stop I switch to 2d. I was noticing that this weekend we caught over a hundred fish and I saw almost none of them on the 2d while we were sitting there. We were catching them on the bottom, I don't know if that makes a difference. When I'm holding still, the images from the SI are too hard to interpret for me.

Unless you are moving , you will not see fish unless the fish are moving thru the cone. ( SI DI 2 D )
360 imaging is the only platform that will paint an image with the boat

I normally use si, when the fish are active you can see them on the si and know what side of the boat there on. You can also see the schools of shad as well

I use SI, gives you a more broad field of view. It is more difficult to interpret, but remember the fish are moving not the boat. You will get much longer returns on your screen while still

I use this 959 Down imaging on the bow. I can't see any use for side imaging when sitting still.

I use mostly 2-d and down. Occasionally I will use side scan. I attached a couple of examples.

Side Scan....Always. Why would you be waiting for fish to only position themselves under your boat? And why fish the left side if they are 50' to the right. Even if you did want them under your boat, wouldn't you want to know where they are so that you can make the proper move? I always mark fish when sitting still. Side Scan is even more effective when you are fishing shallower water and the schools spook if you try and sit on top of them.

Side scan on the bow when you are not moving is very difficult to read. Side scan sends out slices not cone data and Side scan can make a good image when moving straight . (That is why i have one on the console when searching for fish idling with big motor). Once i see them / find them i motor over to them and SPOT LOCK> That is where the down scan comes in set on medium or wide cone. But everyone has their own method and that is great.
