Splashing and Thumping?

Splashing and Thumping? - 03/01/16 05:27 PM

I talked to a guy yesterday that said he keeps an old tennis racket on his boat after anchoring beats the heck out of the water for 3-4 minutes then waits and does it again, he did say that using an ore thumping the boat will work too but he said usually splashing and hitting the water works better because it imitates birds hitting the water and shad splashing around on top so they think they are missing a meal and move into the area.

Has anyone tried splashing? and does thumping really work?

yep it works. Some guides on Texoma even have an extra trolling motor off the back and just have it beat the water. A guide I took, used an old fishing pole, a guide my dad took used an ore and beat on the boat. I heard on this forum that it only works for deep water. Nothing shallow.

I like where the fish is coming off the bottom and smashes the bait and they scatter.

I use my stereo turned up loud with my bass. They love Michael Jackson. When you mount your speakers in the center console it makes a natural sound box and with a Triumph roplene hull it really vibrates.

I actually have a video on how this works. It does not work on all fish but it makes it easy to present the bait since they are looking up while they dance. One theory is that if you use Michael Jackson more join in with sync dancing so you can catch more fish.

(seriously I have seen the thumper work that Bobo sells.)

We were fishing Granger this weekend, and I noticed we would get simultaneous hookups, even when the lures weren't particularly close to each other. So I had the theory that the sandies went into feeding frenzy when they heard the splashing. I tried to imitate the splashing with my hand . . . and immediately hooked up, not eight feet in front of me.

Then it didn't work for the rest of the day.

Right now I'm at 49% confidence that splashing works.

seems like splashing works at times, like maybe a peak feeding time or something like that. I have seen it work, but not consistently like thumping.

I will some day. I can read it. But, I know it can be better.
under stripers, and magnum sandies.
I put too much of my money into the thumpers, so it will be a while before I can upgrade. Unless you want to buy another thumper or 2,5, or 10? lol

I like those thumpers, I need to break down and order one. I like the hands free aspect of it.

Let me know when you are ready. Might have 1 ready to go when you decide. Just depends on how many orders I get that week.
