Left early in the Dark and got home at Dark,, so after cleaning an ice chest full of fish I didnt get to bed until late !!!!!! Just kidding -
But we did get in late !
We got to airport ramp at 7:30 and yep ,,the river was up and flowing! We launched and checked the flow at the 1st rapids by old cr-p hole! I wanted the wife and son to see how the river can change with one good rainfall. It was really rolling at the 1st rapids and muddy ! We did'nt even have to use engine to get back to ramp !
We pulled out and headed to Sowells ,in 3 rivers, for breakfast. Always a great place to eat!
We then headed to 99 bridge and was amazed at the muddy water that was flowing there as well ! We saw one die hard boat that was trolling for whites as we viewed the ramp. We then decided to go to Mason Point. We arrived there and the water was muddy ! I was impressed to see that at least some water did get into choke ! My son wanted to see The South shore ramp to get a better perspective of the low water level, since he had'nt been there since it went down 20 plus feet!
We drove over there and really got a view of how low it was. The ramps were closed at south shore. I told my son and wife ,," Well since we've seen all our old Boat ramps, it wouldn't be complete unless we visited Calliham. Since Mason is just around the corner, i did'nt know if Calliham would be muddy as well but it was only slightly stained. We talked to some nice bank fisherman that said the water had stained up a little since yesterday. It was not the normal Choke emerald green, but fishable with a slight tea color. Since I had the john boat and no trolling motor, we fished around Calliham east bank and caught some crappie and few small bass on road runners fished in about 8 ft of water nest to stick ups. We left around 5:00 pm for the drive back to San Antonio. All in all, we had a great day ! It was good to see Choke again ! I love that lake and pray she will fill back up one day .
