I plead ignorance. What is deadstick season. And for that matter. What is deadsticking?

Read the posts below that mention dead sticking and you will get the picture. Dead means keep the lure still. Hit the deck of your boat with a stick to attract the fish and wait for the fish to appear on your depth finder. Let your lure down to the depth of the fish and hold it still. Any tap or movement of the line is a fish. Strike immediately. It works best when water temperature is below 60 degrees. The season starts when the water gets cold. Fish in the deepest water in the lake or any place that the shad are concentrated. It sounds weird but it works so well that Matt Cartwright says a caveman can do it.
