Richland Chambers Report - 09/09/15 12:52 PM

About a month ago the Whites and Hybrids became all but impossible to find and catch so we went to Catfishing (For lots of Pics and a Current Report, check out the Catfish Section). This is not unusual for RC as many years we've experienced a late Summer that has been tough as nails! Most of the Guides on RC and Adam and I have only fished for the Whisker Fish in August and have been doing well. In the past couple of days, the Whites have started to show up. I found a few small Schools last week but the fish were on the move so fast you couldn't conduct a good Guide Trip and count on a box full of fish. Yesterday, I had three of my Grandsons and their Dad with me and the Boys wanted to fish for Whites. We found a couple of Schools off Main Lake Points in 20' water that stayed around long enough to give us some action. All fish came on RSR Silver or Chartreuse Shad Slabs. ( www.rsrlures.com ) Hopefully the upcoming cooler weather/water temp will result in the great Fall action we've seen in the past on RC!

Check us out at www.gonefishin.biz for our "Package Special" of a Trip and Cabin. We specialize in FAMILY FISHING FUN, fish everyday except Sunday, and have fished RC since 1994. Have a Great Day! fish

We were out Saturday. We couldn't find a hybrid to save our lives. However, we were able to find some whites. Like Royce said most of the time you will find a school and catch maybe one or two fish and they are gone. We did finally find a school late morning over by the windsock that we were able to stick with for a while and put some meat in the boat. Saturday was my first time on the lake in over a month. I was actually really encouraged to see that there were some white bass still around on the main lake. This time last year you could fish all day and not catch a single striped fish. For the first time in a few years I think we may actually get some really good fall fishing.

See CenTexan report from RC for 9/6. He was an RC visitor but picked up over a hundred whites. I hope to get over to RC sometime this fall - haven't fished there in 3 years, but always enjoy fishing there.

Dennis,

This time of year I go from a six day work week to two or three days a week for Guide Trips. If you want to come over to RC, I'd gladly offer up the boat and a morning of fishing if you'd share your Mepps Spinner technique with me. Just give me a call on my cell @ 469-371-5197 if this is of interest.

Thanks!

That's good stuff right there. Two masters of their own lakes getting together to share secrets and tips.

I have to admit, I consider myself to be a very good striped fish fisherman. Always able to locate fish even on new lakes. Efficient with many different techniques for even the finickiest of fish. But I have on many an occasion cursed the Mepps technique. I own about every type of slab, jig, crank bait, and terminal tackle available for these fish. I also own 20 or so different Mepps. But I just cant seem to get it down. Persistence....it'll come. LOL!
