Whitney still producing Striper limits daily, Thumbs raw and bleeding! - 08/11/15 11:17 AM

Still having some awesome days on Whitney, mostly a numbers game right now. Bigger fish can be caught in the evening but it's just too dang hot for this old fart! A lot of my fish are coming out in the deeper flats fishing above the thermocline. No mans land I call it, no structure, no humps no points just wide open water. These fish are on the flats early chasing big balls of bait fish and lot's of it, then late morning staging up on humps and ledges. Find the bait find the fish! Limits coming daily. Except for one, buddy of mine snuck a Banana in my boat one morning and I was snake bit all day, still caught fish but man I had to work for it, plus hung up and broke off 6 times in the same area I've been fishing for over a month and not once hung up. Pay backs heck is all I have to say!
Here's a few pics of the last few days. You oughta come get ya some! God Bless and hope some day soon to "See Ya on the Water!"

Cool , we will be there early Saturday Morning. We will be in a center console about 5 of us. We have thousands of shad in our slips @ Juniper Cove.

Had a great weekend on Whitney. Saturday morning found hungry fish in 25-35 FOW chasing large clouds of baitfish in the McCown Valley/Cedron Creek area. Took the 'Redneck's' advise (thanks for the post) and trolled Chartreuse jig w/ 6" Chartreuse tail. Didn't find them until 9:30 and ended with 14 stripers & 1 blue cat by 12:30; 8 over 20", others healthy but smaller. Had several doubles on the downriggers. Could only get a bite between 3.5 & 4 mph, all fish coming at 19' to 21'. Found baitfish Saturday evening but couldn't buy a bite. Found them again Sunday morning but they just never would turn on...ended with 2 keepers over 20" and 2 more blues. First time I've caught catfish on downriggers.

East end of the bridge

20" to 26"...and a blue cat. Go figure!

Good job, glad to help. Still a great bite going on. We must have had a high survival rate on the 2013 stocking, those fish are all over the lake. Been catching them in anywhere from 13' of water to 35' of water running down riggers from 10' to 22'. Will post pics when back home by a computer. Good to know you found fish up at Cedron and McCowan. Thanks.

Marschall,

I too have a slip at Juniper Cove. I am trying to learn as much as possible regarding fresh water striper fishing in Lake Whitney. Have you live lined any shad? I have a throw net and would like to use it this weekend.
