If you want free food go to bonita ville or the grille & dumpster dive, if not use your electronics & go find em! Moving lots & fast, besides this site only exists for bragging or whining. Any useful information & you will be overrun by others. Could be a great site but is merely a board for posers that need a fix & lurkers that want someone else to do all the hard work for them

Good Luck 12 gage, I fish lighted docks at night and watch for the birds close to state park if your looking for whites/hybrids. I see you only have a few post. This is a awesome site to get and share info and tips. Don't waste your time with idiots telling you otherwise. Go have a big time, and report back how you did.

Fish are scattered. The pattern is very different than in the past. You'll need to rely on your electronics to find them. In the early morning and evening I see a lot of activity on the points. Most is sand bass and small stripers. During the middle of the day you can find momentary top water action that is fast and furious if you are close enough to take advantage of it.

The dam area has not produced much for me. I'm having better luck back up toward South D & D. I saw a post by Michael Acosta that said he was fishing timber in Mid-Lake. If you can afford it, I would hire a guide as PK could easily dish out a skunk right now.

12 Gauge, don't pay any attention to the rude people that post things like that. There's a lot of great information on TTF. Good luck and have fun with your family!

let us know how your fishing ended up. I want to run out there and see what the lake looks like with water in it!!
Been driving down I-20 and passing over the Brazos and seeing more water running through there lately than I've seen in years.

The fishing has not been tough all year. Just during the heavy rains and the settling period. You do have to use your electronics during the summer. The fish were in the trees last week. Points with trees were best. It's not an easy way to fish. Obviously you can't fish live bait in the trees. You have to fish above them and wait for them to come to you. Sandbass are easier to catch on slabs.

I completely disagree with meat eater.

If you hungry and you are near the state park go to the Hungry Fox at Fox Hollow. Hungry Fox The food is great and they have low prices and you won't have to dumpster dive. We ate there during our last trip and it was great. Their breakfast was real good and you won't spend a arm and a leg. You have to tie up on shore unless they fixed there dock since the storm and flood. Oh and the fishing has been slow. First timers need to know there are lots of trees to hang up on PK. If you fishing with shad and need a net full go to Rocky Hollow. Throw you net by the boats in the boat slip just across from the fuel dock. They feed the carp at the fuel dock and it causes the shad to hang around that area. See this Navionics Webapp map Navionics Free Map Most people don't know this map is free on the web but its a great way to browse lakes before your trips and make plans and mark and show locations. Weekends can get rough near the dam and hellsgate as the boat traffic increases during the day. The earlier the better. Boat traffic really rocks this lake but on Sunday morning most of the big boat (30 foot plus owners) sleep late and head home. Hope this helps. If you need a guide I would go with Bobo or Family Guide service.

First: Dr Hart thanks for the Navionics Free Map web site. It is really cool.
Second: Randy, you can catch bigger fish than that at PK. Hope you and your family are having a great time.

Thanks Dr. Hart. I've been so busy, I haven't had a chance to go to PK for a few weeks. About to get caught up and will definately be going soon. I don't pay attention to trolls. The fishing is good at PK. It is certainly different fishing than it was when the lake was low. Water should be clearing very well by now and the catching will only get better. Shad, slabs, and trolling will always catch a few. I've found you can usually pm some of the folks who reply and get some better advice that they don't share publicly. Good Luck, 12 gage!

Sage advice - If you must go to PK and desire to catch fish, hire a local professional guide. If you follow that advice, you will save yourself alot of time, effort, gas money and frustration. If you don't want to hire a guide, I strongly suggest another lake.

We caught some great big fish at the coast. That was a state water snapper that was released.
