True or false?

True or false? - 06/09/15 04:51 PM

Your opinion please...

A. It's easier to catch a 30 lb striper from Lake Texoma than to catch a 17 lb striper from Tawakoni. T or F

B. It's easier to catch a 20 lb striper below Denison Dam in 2015 than to catch a 17lb striper from Tawakoni this year. T or F

OK, I'll play

A: F
B: T With only 3lb difference between the two locations it's a flip of the coin.

Thats really a tie. both are a huge feat on either lake. I'd say it's a wash. But if I were a betting man I'd say True.

True: never caught a 17 on Tawakoni or even close and below DD we landed 3 fish that were 13,14,14# and the trip after ours they caught a 25#

Thank you Holzer and DU SOUTH5 for playing. 17lb is 5lb less than Tawakoni current record, 30 lb is 5 lb less than current record for striped bass in Texoma. We have a split on the first question. Based on the actual catches the 17lb striped bass were caught twice at Tawakoni in recent years that I know... Does anyone know if a 30 lb striper ever been caught from Texoma in recent years? Second question B is easy, multiple 20+ lb stripers were caught below DD in the may and june 2015 already, but have not seen a 17lb out of twok yet this year.

Going forward, Texoma may remain very deep for many years, wouldn't you Texoma will produce a few 30# lb?

F and T. Hey I took that pic of Austin's 17 # striper on Twok! It was a "cold" 50 degree day and we had to convince VIP to join us.

congratulations VIP, I REMEMBER reading about it, some time ago on lakeguides boat, right? Do you remember how long was the fish? I might have made a big fishing mistake with my cheap scale...

Most tha guides catchy a few Striper each year I the 15-18lb class. So, just from the dock at holiday I'd say there are 5-10 a year caught in that range. thumb

Re: True or false? - 06/16/15 02:13 AM

Oh my... fishkiller, that's a monster! If that fish was pumped out of Texoma, which is most likely, it'd have been a new texoma striper record. Red River below DD had been at low level so long I wouldn't think 30# striper could survive, could they?

Thank you SeaproTod and blue wave Mike for playing, we're back to a split on the first question at 2 True and 2 False.

A. 2 T, 2 F
B. 4 T, 0 F

I wasn't sure how to interpret your call on the first Q, but it's all Kool and thanks for playing. thumb who knows maybe that was the only fish of 30+lb class or maybe there are more in main lake or in the Red River. I am an optimist.

There have been many 30+lb fish out of the river.....The record is well over 40lbs. Heck, I have hooked and fought bigger than that pic, just didn't land them but saw them well enough to know. These fish for the most part all came out of the lake. Those big fish move deep on the lake. They are there just rarely caught, if at all.
