Running Full Throttle Along the Shoreline ?

Running Full Throttle Along the Shoreline ? - 05/17/15 07:59 PM

So close to a banker in the water with surf rod just about to cast a 4oz sinker? So close I could I could see their eyebrows and their smirking faces...

Whoever you're, all 3 of you, not cool! My guess is they were smirking as to what the heck I was doing in 2 fow? For starter, this is springs fishing, fish are in shallow. and FYI, I was catching channel catfish just off the submerged grass, and white bass off the sandbar that they ran their boat directly over.

Some boaters might not know that there are people bank fishing Tawakoni year round, we do catch fish year round. We use long rods and wear wader to reach the fish depth at different time of the day or season, so when you all see us siting along the bank, our rigs could be 150 yards off shore. when you all running full throttle 20 30 yards is the equivalent of plowing through schools of fish in the middle of a boat show fishing. Don't assume just because you don't see fish in your side scan don't assume bankers don't know what they were doing and somehow justify your rude behavior that break all fishing ethics. First, shallow fish spook easily, it may be your loud motor that drives fish away. Second, fish forage in and out of area,... noises will only drive fish off. Third, even if the fishermen don't know what they're doing, plowing over their rigs or lines is the equivalent of circling a fish less boat, a rude behavior any way you slice it. A man is fishing whether he catch fish or not, interfering a man's fishing not only is rude, it might be illegal.

Sorry bankfisher, I agree. I was going down the bank last week with the trolling motor and didn't see 2 guys on the bank because of brush. They stood up before I got into their area and I turned the boat around and waved sorry for disturbing them.

10x worse @ lewisville

last year, some "bass pro's" were getting a little to close to the hybrid school I was working, nearly 40 yards offshore.
I piped up n said, "you'[re fixin' to run over a good hybrid school.."

the dude on the TM says, " nahh, we're fishing a bass tournament",

um, did you somehow miss my point as you motor into my hybrid school in 6'FOW ????!!!!!

I've found one must pick their lakes carefully. between wakeboarders & Bass fishermen, I call it a draw. must be all the prestige, or maybe its just the "look" ??
y'all know what I'm talkin about, the
50k in gear & $1.50 in knowledge & consideration look?

I bought a paintball gun this winter, & I'm pretty good out to 20 yards......

There's places along Lake Park that can have a dozen or more bank fishermen along the shore. Would be funny to see a barrage of paintballs used to drive away some of the various boaters who get too close.

I saw a news report where a few guys shot someone with a paintball gun and they are now getting 3 free meals a day for a few years. Not a good plan.

Now if you hit them with your lure then that could be a mistake. cheers

I always enjoy the boats that haul [censored] pretty close to you but most of the people slow down and I'm on a boat when it happens.

Champion Fish,, You're a true gentleman, you were fishing w tm, and turned around when you saw those 2 guys... what's more can one ask from fellow fishermen. Just awesome. The boat that I mentioned was going full speed towards the marina in a hurry. As far as I could see they ran the length of shoreline...

On the bank or open water, LEARN WHEN TO IDLE DOWN! People just don't get it. If you want to come and tie up my boat and shoot the breeze while we are catching fish....by all means do it. But idle that thing down on the way in or out. I cant stand losing a bite do to someone running that big motor over the fish.

We all run into this more often. I tried to enjoy my time on the water with my wife. More often I wave people over rather I catch or not. Trying to have a nice conversation instead of being aggressive toward them. A lot of time you make new friends and some time they don't know what they did was wrong. I understand boat etiquette and respected other fisherman privacy especially bank fisherman. We're in the boat and have more access to other area. Bank fishermen are restricted to where they fish. That's why I don't run my big motor near other boats or near the shore. Enjoy your time out there cause you can't intellectually understand their stupidity acts. Be safe and be careful.

Lots of good advices, but....kind of hard to strike a conversation when you're standing in 1 fow and they are going 30 mph. .. waving? with the middle finger, regretfully wished I didn't because my son and wife were with me that day.

However, I did reflected inward that day, did I ever done such inconsiderate acts like that? when I drive my off road suv down to a fishing shore did I take the furthest path away from shore and the fishermen as not to disturb their fishing? Did I leave the place better than I found it? I promise myself to do better next time.

We can't control other's behaviors, but we can use them to strengthen our internal resolve to be a better man/woman by NOT ACTING LIKE THEM.

When ever i see some one running full blast 30 feet from the shore i drop everything and start making bets on when and where the F O O L is going to hit a submerged rock or stump and his outboard goes flying up and in the seat with him. I haven't been that lucky yet but i am trying smile I would not run wide open near shoreline for that reason most. And of course why would you want to ru n by the bank fishermen / fisherwomen in the first place.

See that happen at hubbard all the time especially Robertson near the buoys. They just zoom right infront of all the bankers, wake the [censored] out of a kayaker near the bank. Keith I'm with you, I just sit back and wait till they hit those stump... But never happen tired

I was bank fishing the jetties just south of 66 on Hubbard once, and some d-bag goes out of his way coming under the bridge in the middle of the lake to make a big wake over our lines and then goes back out to the middle of the lake to continue on his way. They weren't just being inconsiderate, they were intentionally [censored] with us.

I was on the water with my kayak at Ray Hubbard last week. After few hours with not thing but enjoy the wind and nice day then headed back to the boat ramp. I was about 50-70 feet from the bank and by the buoys, there came a boater that was in full throttle between my kayak and the bank and went about 40 feet pass the buoys into the no wake zone before he shut it down. I was about to say some thing but saw a little boy who was waving at me. Those waves gave my kayak a good bounce. He could have capsized my kayak if I did not know how to deal with the waves. That man was with his wife, little boy and I believe with his little daughter as well. What a bad example/teaching his kid!
