Tawakoni Report 4/11/15 - 04/12/15 07:10 AM
Wife and I are on vacation and we were skeptical about the cold front and how it would affect the bite. A friend of mine went on Friday and he didn't do too shabby except for the "hurricane" wind they had to fight to control the boat. We got on the water at 12 and headed straight for the dam/spillway casting toward the rocks. There were several boats there and we didn't see anyone catching. We tried several different lures and nada. I can see the fish on the graph and still wouldn't bite. Spent 30 minutes and we headed to different locations. Fished the humps at around 15 feet and caught several yellow bass and a short hybrid. By 5pm we headed north and fished off the slope at 5 feet deep. There we caught big 4 hybrids and 3 short hybrids. We had 2 rods fishing off the bottom and caught twenty three 3 lbs cats and several yellow bass. Wife had a great time. We noticed it picked up real good at 7pm for the hybrid. All hybrids caught with a 10 lb test line with drag set loose. Only had 1 broke off when it rubbed against the boat. Look like Tawakoni will be picking up soon!
We didn't catch any sandie today. That was really odd.
