I was out Saturday before last and was able to catch a few fish. Some under hybrids, a few white bass, and a good number of yellow bass. That led me to falsely assume that we were really close to some good fishing again. However, we went out last Saturday evening and literally did not get a single bite. Checked all the usual spots and never saw a school of fish that warranted even stopping the boat to try. I assume the whites are still up in the creeks doing their thing.
I've quit trying to predict the whites and hybrids on RC. All the stocking data says this should be a banner year for hybrids on RC, but I guess I'm at the point where I will believe it when I see it. Been so long since I've seen any good fishing on RC, other than catfish, that I wonder if it will ever return. Hopefully the flow in the creeks this spring will really be good for the white bass numbers in the lake. Lord knows it could use the help.
My advice is if you must go to RC rig up to fish for catfish because that is the only fish you can consistently catch there anymore. If you want to catch striped fish, go somewhere else.
Sorry to be a downer. I'm typically a positive person. But the last 6 months of fishing on this lake is the worst stretch I've seen since I started fishing it.

I agree 100%
Hence why I plan to fish this spring on RC then head back to the deep blue yonder....
The lake has changed.... Honestly I don't expect to see a big change anytime soon... On the striped fish. I'm sure some hybrids will show up as well as sandbass soon and it will be ok this spring... I don't think the dog days of summer will be all that great. Good news is crappie and cats are good! That's the saving grace.... lol
