Best lure for deep water whites

I am a LMB guy so my knowledge about catching whites is limited. My brother wanted to go catch some fish this past weekend, I know where the whites are located so I said lets go. We used tail spinners but the hook kept wrapping around the body causing it not to spin. This was very frustrating. We still managed to catch close to a hundered, but I need a better lure choice. How is a little George? Hard to find a spoon heavy enough with a small enough hook. Any ideas?

You can fish them like a spinner bait / tail spinner. When fish go down. Drop it straight down and fish vertical. Need to get in deep water, use a 1.5oz slab with spinner. Shallow water use a 0.5oz slab. Most Tail Spinners will get hook hung.

I agree with Superduck, the slabs with spinners is the way to go.

Whichever slab you use, cut off one of the hooks on the treble hook. The fly above the slab will some excitement as well.
