Sounds good Hayden. Are you going to separate the small from large? I will be contacting you also.

Re: Shad For Sale - 06/18/07 02:35 PM

most of the shad are fairly small about 3 inches or so and youll get a gizzard shad or two that might be fairly large mixed in a few bags, but most medium to smaller threadfins.Thnx for helping our business

You all fish with frozen shad? Never had much luck with shad that wasn't fresh.

Re: Shad For Sale - 06/18/07 03:25 PM

fresh frozen shad, next best thing to live shad, and excellent catfish bait also, especially when the shad are spawning and you can cut the stomachs so eggs and blood leaks out and hook them on your line and your gauranteed a catch, either striper or a cat

Bait dealers license? Do they let you throw a bigger net? Might be worth it.

Re: Shad For Sale - 06/19/07 07:06 PM

I know you would make a small fortune selling live shad up here on Texoma...

If you were to set up a store (store front) and sell on Sat and Sunday...

might be able to quiet your day job! smile

Just a thought...

I hear that! I've often thought you could make more money at Texoma selling fresh shad than most people ever could by guiding. All you would have to do is get up early, catch the bait, and go to the same place along the road on Saturdays and Sundays. As soon as people got used to you being there you would have created a market.

Re: Shad For Sale - 06/20/07 03:25 AM

I offered a few years ago for $1.00 per live shad at Texoma and no one took me up on it. I only get out to Texoma a few day per year and i think i could do great with 50 live shad. they are a total pain in the A.. to get if only fish every now on then on Texoma. I will send you a PM for a few bags of frozen shad.

Re: Shad For Sale - 06/20/07 12:50 PM

Here is my idea, send me a royalty if you make a million $,

you wil need a slip or two at one of the marinas. Enclose the
slip with fine mesh netting. Someone works the night shift
throwing the net and tranfering the shad to the holding pen.
Transfer the captive shad from the holding pen directly to
the customers boat with a long handled dip net.

that is a pretty good idea

Re: Shad For Sale - 06/21/07 02:53 AM

That does sound like a pretty good idea. You'd have to make those nets go 3-4 feet out of the water though. Have you ever seen a bunch of shad jumping over and out of a seine??

Re: Shad For Sale - 06/21/07 12:29 PM

You'd have to put a lid on it somehow. Smorgasbord for the herons, water turkeys, and egrets.
