From what the experts have told me, most likely not. For the Humminbird side imaging transducer, it’s an all or nothing technology. From what I understand, the transducer will still be sending out pings which might interfere with the Lowrance unit while you are only viewing the side images. Some think that I might be able to adjust the Lowrance to reduce the interference. Some thing I will try. I will also be installing the transducers on different sides of the transom.
Humminbird Side Imaging uses 455kHz, DualbeamPlus uses 200kHz (20 degree cone) & 83kHz (60 degree cone).
Lowrance 17M uses 200kHz (20 degree cone).
Once I get my boat in the next few weeks, I am going to test out the theory. As a side note, I want to see what 2d technology is the best. If the side imaging technology meets my expectations, I hope the masses will stay with the 2d technology for they will take longer to find the structures.
