Yellow Bass Run - 01/20/24 12:23 AM

Was looking to get on a bunch of yellow bass. Anyone know if there is a yellow bass run that is similar to the White Bass run?

Do you fish the white bass run on Lake Fork? Are there any good creeks to try?

They go up the creeks at the same time as the sandbass. They even hybridize from time to time. Not all the lakes in the metroplex have them, they’re more common as you head east.

Caught Whites schooling out from the Dam but never really fished for them when they run up creek! The Yellows were mixed in with the whites

There is an important caveat, despite not size limit or possession limit they are still a game fish. They cannot be used for bait or caught in a cast net.

I thought Yellows could be used for bait? Learn something new every day.

No, they are a game fish. A lot of people don’t know that, that’s why I mentioned it.

If you like 10 to 11 incher yellers, Tawakoni got plenty of them in April and May on structures. But you only can find them when you are not looking for them due to Murphys law. Lol. They are good eat.

Seems the ones I get here in The DfW area are fairly small. The yellow bass in east texas get a lot bigger.
