Cedar Creek Fishing Report for April 2018 4.27.18 - 04/29/18 07:09 PM
I had a chance to take my brother in law fishing last Friday , 4.27.18. Got a late start, finally launched at 9:30am. It was still a great day. Light wind, blue sky and just great to be fishing . First stop, main lake brush pile for a few CC Crappie. For me , the Crappie bite is early. Unfortunately it was late morning. We still managed to put 15 nice Crappie in the box in two hours . All of the Crappie were in 12 to 13 Fow. We caught these Crappie on 1/16 ounce gray jigs. Two jigs tied on 6lb about 15 inches apart . And yes, you will lose some jigs . 2nd stop, another brush pile main lake, 16 to 17 FOW . No fish, Time to go Sand Bass fishing , located some fish on the east end of Long Ridge in 21 to 22 FOW. Turned on the Thumper and the Lowrance screen was almost blacked out. With the Thumper working and the fish were willing to bite, we were able to catch 50 good sand bass. Most all of these fish were caught on Cotton Cordell small silver jigging spoons on 10lb test. Vertical jigging or dragging the small spoon from side to side slowly. This method seem to work that day. Also some of these fish were caught on #4 Mepps , silver, slow rolling on the bottom. If you have never used this bait, you are really missing out. Just ask Dennis Christian at CC. The #4 Mepps also produced 4 Hybrids , 3 small and one 4lbs. Killer bait ! Thanks Dennis...... Well, it's time to go to the house ........Good Day on CC !
