Cedar Creek Lake April 2018 Fishing Reports - 04/11/18 11:49 AM

Caught easy limits (25 within an hour) the last 3 times out. Mostly good sandies 13 to 16 inches. They are not at every structure but they ARE on some of them - you just have to keep looking til you find them. I found them at Saint Annes Point East and Drew's Humps. Took a run up to Spillway Hump and Enchanted Isle over the weekend and found water to be too stained to fish the bottom. It is a little stained on the south end, but I can catch fish down to 22 fow. However, the limits I have been getting were in 12 to 15 fow. With water stained, white Mepps #4 spinners have been working better than silver.

Update: Frequent rains are keeping the lake stained, even muddy in some areas. I ventured north yesterday and saw the water get more stained the farther north I went. I was able to find and catch fish at Key Ranch drop-off in 11 fow, but when I got as far north as Merimac, it was just too stained to catch fish with the Mepps in 14 fow where I found them. As you go south from Key Ranch the water is clearer and I caught a limit at Staubach Hump in 20 fow. Also finding and catching fish at Saint Annes Point East and Swing-set Hump. Finding that the white bladed Mepps #4 is working best in the stained water.

White bass on structures are plentiful on south end of lake: I was out about 2 and a half hours yesterday on a scouting run. That is, I try to locate fish on a structure, catch 10 whites, then go check out another structure. I visited six structures and found fish on five of them: Drew's Humps in 16 fow, Staubach Hump in 21 fow, Dam Ridge in 20 fow, Campbell's Hump in 16 fow, and Long Ridge in 21 fow. At the 1st four I could catch a fish pulling a Mepps #4 up from the bottom almost every cast. At Long Ridge it started that way, then fish moved a little, and I had to relocate to finish catching 10. The fish were mostly 13 to 15 inches - good sized whites. The point of this post is that it looks like the usual great white bass structure fishing from mid April through July is here for those who go after white bass.
