Is this a hybrid ??

Looks like a sandbass. But would have to see tooth patch to be sure.

Looks like a yellow bass cross to me.

Distinct stripes, several going to the tail, I say hybrid. Need to see tooth patch.

When you grabbed it to remove the hook did it calm down (sandbass) or did it continue to fight (hybrid)?

I agree. Strong & distinctly broken stripes, chunky body, several stripes going to tail, and large tail fin. You hardly ever see a sandy with even 1 distinct stripe reaching all the way to the tail. You don't really need the tooth patch to be certain on that one, but it would resolve all dispute

Shape of the head says Hybrid to me, the rest says heinze 57 with a heavy dose of yellow bass.

It's so simple when you have others to compare them too. After all these years I still have trouble
telling them apart. At least they taste the same when tossed in a little oil:)

Sunshine bass. If this was lewisville it bet all the marbles on it. Lew has been stocked heavily with them and I’ve caught tons of them. More fun than a stupid sand bass but not quite to the level of a hybrid.
