Does the very HOT summer flame we have been having effect the sunfish bite? What do you think? hmmm

Side Note: I have fished a lot of water bodies this summer! I have had great results every time out fishing for sunfish and Rios. I have fished at different times during the day including the hottest points between 2pm and 7pm and have caught good quality fish! I would say that the early morning bite has been the best times. Been night fishing a bunch and have caught lots of sunnies, bass, crappie, and cat's. hooked

Not for me. I can always catch them on Athens but I'll admit that is the only place I've been fishing heavily this summer. Why change what works? banana

Like you Curtis the hot summer has not effected me finding good quality fish! Been having great results all summer long fishing a lot of different water bodies! hooked I have been getting my best results during the early morning bite between sunup and 10am. I have caught fish during the hot times of day also when the bite as been to good to stop. I usually like being home before 2pm during the hot days of summer. hmmm I have caught plenty of nice sunfish, bass,Rios, and Channel Cat's all summer long! cheers

Side Note: If we had not gotten the RAIN we got this past fall and winter the water bodies down here would have been in bad shape and thus the bite on some of the places I have fished would have been very poor! The water bodies have held up nicely this summer thanks to the RAIN we have been having. banana(Rain dance). This past 3 plus inches of RAIN has really helped! thumb

The heat hasn't affected the fish for me. Anytime i can fish is a good time

Been hitting the morning the most mainly because of the heat. Bite has been very good all summer long.

It's been hot but the water temperatures here in North Texas are only 82F

Here in East Texas the rains have been steady all summer. Fishing has been great for me.

I know the heat sure effects the fisherman. I get lazy about walking two miles to my favorite spots grin

I do see the effects in the small creeks. Fishing has been much better early in the morning during these dog days of summer for me. The fish seem to be much more aggressive in the areas of the creeks that are shaded and the water is much cooler as well.

More than anything though is the heat and lack of rain is drying up the creeks very quickly. The sunfish are stacked into the smaller shallower pools with hard bottom instead of the deeper holes. These pools are drying up and getting duckweed forming on them. The last rain we got just absorbed into the soil with no run off. I sure hope this next rain will be a heavy one.
