Reds,Rios, and Redbreast. No Place but Texas! - 07/22/17 01:06 AM
Had a GREAT week of fishing despite the very HOT temperatures. Fished a couple of local creeks and the bite was great with plenty of active fish. The morning bite from sun up till 11 am is the best. After 11am the bite slows down a lot. Been catching good numbers of nice Rios, and Redbreast. Also catching some nice Longear. Sunfish are back on nest. Looks like a second spawn in taking place. Fish are holding by brush piles close to the bank and at the ends of currents. Fish were caught using worms and all were released. Finished the week by fishing with my brother Tom, and a South Texas Legend Guide! We fished for Reds with guide and friend Harry Lamb who has fished both power plant lakes in the San Antonio area for many many of years. We caught 19 Reds and kept a few for the dinner table. We fished from 8am till about 1pm. Harry is a Pro when it comes to down rigging and reading a graph. Side scan is a "fish finder" for sure! We had a great time on the water. The Reds were caught with silver and gold spoons down rigging. After a day on the water we had a great hamburger combo at Toms Burgers and More located just down from the lake. Finishing a GREAT week of fishing with my brother and friend Harry Lamb. It just don't get any better!
