Caught these on Night Crawlers !

Last week I fished the Blanco State Park before this latest front. Fished from 8am till 1pm. I started to fish for the Rainbow Trout by casting a gold Super Duper lure. Did not get any hits. I then switched to the Berkley Trout Bait-cheese colored with no results. These two baits were getting limit after limit of Rainbow Trout all season long! I figured the trout were either caught out or moved further down river. I then switched poles and started to fish for Bluegill. I baited a quarter of an night crawler on a size six cricket hook and nailed twelve Rainbow Trout. A couple of small Bluegill rounded out the catch. A bottom technique was used. All fish were released with the exception of five Rainbow Trout which were kept for the frying pan. Catching some late winter Rainbow Trout. It just don't get any better!

Thanks Willie and jippedgenes for the replies. Nothing beats a good Ol' Night Crawler! A worm will catch just about anything!

Yes sir the bait of champions at work! Met up with a crappie angler the other day while on the water. I asked him if he was having any luck. He pulled out several nice slabs and told me where they were biting. I asked him what color jig he was using and he laughed. He pulled out a box of night crawlers and said that is all he ever uses. Seems that worms catch just about anything! What is your take?

Thanks Curtis! Worms are a natural bait. Just about any type of fish no matter where will bite a live worm. I have caught a ton of different fish using em!

Nice fish Chuck. As you would say. "The Bait of Champions"! If you could not use worms what bait would you use?

Love my flies and spinner baits but I will agree that the overall best bait to catch a fish are the Night Crawler!
