Basket of Kitties

Basket of Kitties - 07/17/16 03:12 PM

I went to Hurst Chisholm the last two mornings. Both times I caught 5 stocker channel cats but no sunfish. A little girl down the bank from me caught 2 of the smallest bluegill I have seen recently.

Hurst Chisholm is something of a puzzle. It was once stocked many years ago with coppernose bluegill and the old timers tell tales of "perch bigger than your hand". Now it has large catfish and carp, but little dinky sunfish.

I think the combination of fishing pressure and catfish just overwhelmed the sunfish population.

That is a potentially delicious looking basket of kittygatos! The cats probably ate the 'gills. They have been known to do that
