Tyler State Park

Tyler State Park - 07/12/16 07:29 PM

Didn't make it to Lake Athens but made a quick stop at Tyler State Park. It is a nice little park and lake. Very clean and park personnel were friendly and helpful. I actually got my oldest daughter to go with me.
Now for the report. We fished off the 3 piers there using a cork, dropshot and bottom methods with nightcrawlers. Ended up catching about 30 to 40 sunnies, mostly bluegill.

Baby girl with one of her catches.

Me with almost 11" sunny

Love seeing you guys get your kiddos out! Terrific 'gill, too! Haven't tried that spot yet, but may just have to on one of our trips to Tyler for lunch at Villa Montez... wink

Beautiful place. It didn't take you long to find trophy fish thumb

My Dad went out there for a little fun in May of last year and caught a small stocker Rainbow Trout. We suppose it was the one that got away during the annual trout stocking. Quite a surprise!

Thanks for the comments. That's pretty neat to catch trout that late in the season. I saw a couple big bass in there so I bet they love trout season.
