A Good Tuesday Bite! Ponds&Dunlap! - 06/30/15 08:33 PM

Myself and Robert "Dafanman" tried a new spot this morning. We arrived at a pond at 8:30am and the bite was good. We caught some nice Redear in the 8 inch range and several Bluegill in the 7 inch range. Robert caught a nice bass about 3 pounds. Several more Redear and some small bass rounded out the catch. We were pleased with the quality of fish in the pond. We then had a super brunch at the Union Street Station in New Braunfels. We finished the day fishing an old spot on Lake Dunlap. We landed a bunch of nice Bluegill in the 7 to 9 inch range and Robert nailed another nice Bass. All fish were caught on worms with both float and bottom techniques being used. Fish were in 3 to 6 feet of water holding by structure. We left em biting. All fish were released to fight again. Fishing on a Tuesday with a good friend. It just don't get any better! fish

Nice fish guys. Got to give the Union Street a try! How was the current on Dunlap! I guess water is still being let out on Canyon?

Nice Mr. Banker. How was the water at Dunlap? Trying to time my next trip to lower Guadalupe (lower than New Braunfels). Thanks for the report.

Thanks guys,

The water at Dunlap is still stained a weak chocolate milk color, and still pretty good current happening.

Gitter: You will enjoy Union Street food

Thanks Guys for the replies! cheers

Side Note: The water discharge from Canyon Lake has been slowed down by the Army Corp of Engineers. The currents should start getting back to normal on the river lakes as well as the water clearing up. Each day conditions should be getting better! Also the Guadalupe will be a very busy place this weekend. It's already the Fourth of July! nuts

I wonder if the water coming out of the dam is as cold as it normally is. If it is, I know the trout guys will be thrilled. juggle

Since the Corp. has been letting water out of Canyon the water temperatures on all of the river lakes has been much cooler than normal. eeks This has been a factor in the sunfish bite for sure. hmmm The good news is that the Corp. has stopped letting water out of Canyon and things should start getting back to normal. clap

Great looking fish, good place to eat as well. Next time you are around New Braunfels try this place for some great food, friends of our family own it.

Its located on 251 S Seguin Avenue.

They are open Wednesday through Sunday I think.

That is good news for sure. Still no Rios on Dunlap! Been seeing some of your post about the colder water conditions on Dunlap and the other river lakes. Do you think this will have a longer effect on the bite and the Rio population?

It defiantly had an effect on the bite. bang As for the Rio population have to wait and see. noidea

Awesome post guys! Great seeing a good Dunlap report. Looks like the river lakes are settling down and the bite is picking up. If only the Rios would come out and play!

Side Note: Chuck: Do you think the colder water will effect the rest of the summer Rio bite? I have only caught a few Rios this year off of the river lakes.

Have not caught many Rios on Mcqueeney. Hopefully the bite picks up but I am like you. I think the patterns are messed up.
