Blanco state park/blanco river - 04/17/15 12:29 AM

Hey sunfish TFFers
I am looking at an overnight stopover at blanco state park in early or mid June. How is the fishing? Id like to most importantly get my 3 yr old on some fish to reel in, and wouldn't mind a few eating size sunnies (hand size) for the grease. I'll have a light line spinning reel and some small mepps or rooster tails. Probably some worms and bobber for the kiddo. What can I expect to find or catch in the river in the state park? Appears to be a small park, 105 acres total. Any help or suggestions would be super. Thanks guys.

I have fished in the Blanco State Park a lot. It is a very well kept and super clean park. Lots of shaded bank space and spots to fish. As for the fishing there are lots of Sunfish,Bass, and Catfish. There are lots of spots along the river that are good. The further away you are from the swimmers the better. Worms were the best bait for me. You will really enjoy the park not only for fishing but just to relax. The City of Blanco also has some nice Restaurants, shops, and a super market. Hope you have a nice visit and let us know how you do. thumb

Side Note: During this time of the month I would fish shaded areas and by ledges and drop offs. coolio

I have fished that park a couple of times last year during the late summer. Did good on the Bass and Sunfish. Fish were hanging by brush not to far from the bank. I was using small Rooster tails (white/green and red/black) Also a small green Betsy Minnow worked good. Great park and very well maintained.
