Plastic Worms for Bluegills

Two questions:
1. Do any of you use Gulp worms (night crawlers, or other types) for bluegill fishing ... and, if so, do they work well or not-so-well?
2. Do you know a source for small plastic worms, sized for bluegills? I have only two left (about 2 1/2 inches long, maybe 3 inches) that have two hooks embedded in them, one at the tail end and one in front, and don't know where I got them. I slowly drag them on a Carolina rig and catch some big bluegills that way. I've been looking for more on the internet and haven't found them so far. Any help will be appreciated.

i use the gulp eathworms and red wigglers, and it doesnt compare to real ones, as one would imagine. but, i did cut the tail(maybe an inch or so) of a bass worm and "wacky rigged" it, just slowly brought it to surface and let it drop, and had the same results as you did.

ps i caught more catfish (just little mudcats) on the gulp worms than panfish of any sort

I use the Berkley Power Worms natural trout size. I have also used the orange in color ones. The natural color works very well and I have had some great results using em. I have also had fair results using the orange color. When you find a large school of hungry Blue Gills or Longears the Berkley Worms work super.

Creme Worms were the first thing I thought of when I read your post. I'm sure there are others, but this is the only one I can think of.

I use a multitude of artificial worms for bream fishing. Gulp, Berkley, Yum, Gary Yamamoto, Charlie Brewer, Southern Pro, etc.... All these guys (plus more) offer a bream sized (1.5" - 3") worms. Great slow dragging lure. Very versitile bait IMHO.

mfhsfisher724, thanks for the reply. You saved me the time and expense of experimenting with Gulp. If I don't find some plastic bluegill worms like the ones I have (with the two hooks embedded), I'll cut down finesse worms and rig hooks up in them.

while I was writing a reply to mfhsfisher724, you other guys send replies. Banker and Jagg, I'll search for some of those worms you mentioned.

Look up Anise worms from Bass River Outdoors. They have a "Bluegill" worm that is 2 3/4" long with the two hooks imbedded in them. I have used them and they work pretty good.

Thanks guys, you put me on the right track. Went to Cabela's and looked up trout worms and found the exact worm I've been using, a 2 1/2" worm with two hooks embedded. I didn't get the color I now have, but ordered several colors. Also, I looked up the Anise worm at Bass River Outdoors and the Anise worm they have for Bluegills is almost the same worm, with the two hooks embedded, and a better color selection. Since I had already placed an order with Cabela's, I didn't order any from Bass River Outdoors, but bookmarked it for future use. Again, thank you very much.

I would think just about any of em would work on a super hungry school of sunnies. I like the Berkley products.
