Lake Bastrop Fishing Report. - 08/11/18 02:12 PM

Fished Lake Bastrop this past week and the bite was good. Myself and good friend Jeff launched Jeff's boat at the South Shore Park. We fished from 8am till 3pm. We caught a lot of bass in the one to three pound range. Biggest bass was just under five pounds. Had one "HUGE" bass get off at the boat! As for the sunnies we only caught a few nice Bluegill all in the nine inch range. The bite was good from about 9am till noon. After noon the bite was super slow. Caught most of the bass on crank baits in 16 feet of water off of ledges. The Bluegill were caught on soft plastics (worms) in about 6 feet of water by grass beds. Chartreuse/Black and Purple were the colors that got good results. All fish were released. The lake was clear in some areas and stained in others. Always enjoy fishing Lake Bastrop!

Great report as always Curtis. Bastrop is a good bass lake and it also has some nice Bluegill. I have not fished there in awhile. Hopefully I can make it there early fall. thumb
