Dunlap 7/24/18 - 07/24/18 06:20 PM

Fished daybreak to 11:30. Water temp 79 at ramp & 83 mid lake. About mid lake the water color starts turning lime green ? Maybe an algae bloom. It was pretty pleasant out and only saw one ski boat all morning. Lots of floating beer cans, flip flops, tubes etc...runoff from the tubers. Fish very active today...got 1 Rio, 2 Guadalupe Bass, 3 small largemouth, and around 60 bluegill (mostly small) I think I have PTFD... (Post Traumatic Fayette Disorder) ...saw no mayflies, but did catch a few on small spinners... most came from around deeper docks on night crawlers

Nice post as always Vogey! I have not fished Dunlap in awhile. I usually wait after Labor Day to fish it again. The big ones will be looking for food and trying to get fat before winter! Again nice post. thumb

Laker...When I was a kid (60 yrs ago) my grandad lived on lake Dunlap. He had a light over hanging the water & I remember the catfish coming up with their mouths open just scooping in the insects. It is etched in my memory. Have not done much since. I did notice some underwater lighting on Dunlap Tuesday morning in 3 spots. I guess I should have tried those areas 1st...

Fritz...Not very often...not even sure if I could tell a hybrid Guadalupe from a full blooded one. I would say I catch 1 or 2 Guadalupe bass maybe every other trip...

Great post Vogey and thanks for sharing. Do you ever fish Placid?

I have fished Placid maybe twice. I prefer the clearer/cleaner water of the upper Guadalupe. I grew up on lake McQueeney & hope to get back there in the future...

Out of all the river lakes on the Guadalupe River,Placid is the most difficult to fish! Just my two cents. 2cents

Thanks Vogey for your reply. I got to agree with LO. Placid is the most difficult river lake to fish on the Guadalupe. Wonder why?
