Dunlap 5/22/18 - 05/22/18 07:42 PM

Fished 1/2 day...6:30-12:00. Boat traffic started picking up around 10:30. Water temp 77-78 degrees. Caught 2 bass, 2 cats, & around 25-30 sunfish...nothing big, but good colors... Got spoiled on Fayette! Did see an owl go in the water after a fish...never seen that b4. Got a pic when it went back up in the tree. No Mayfly hatch yet. All on night crawlers...most tight to docks mid lake. Question...Many of u have posted reports from Calaveras in the years past...but nothing recent. Have you just stopped fishing there ? I know the water temp is in the mid 90s now, but it still should be a good winter/spring lake for bluegill ? Why no reports ???

Nice post and coolphotos Vogey! As always good job.

Side Note: I fish Cally a lot especially for catfish and fresh water Reds. I have seen several anglers fishing off of the banks by Spider Island who were catching some nice Bluegill. This was last October!

Nice post as always Vogey! Good job. thumb

Side Note: As for Cally I have caught a ton of Channel Cat's and Bluegill off of that lake over the years. I caught many a "LARGE" Bluegill off of the Crappie Wall during the days you could fish off of the wall. The wall is now totally off limits! You can still catch some nice Bluegill in the coves and by the reed beds during the fall. During the summer the gills are in deeper water usually by the intake in off limits water. The water temperature on Cally is "HOT" during the summer months. Early morning bite and late night bites are the best times to fish. coolio
