Conroe bream--good day w/ my dad - 04/23/18 11:58 PM
We caught 33 and left with them still biting at 11. Smallest 8 1/2 inches 4 over 10 inches.
Used trout magnet on flyrod for 10 or so then switched to crickets. 5 1/2 lbs of filets
Nice fish and some "LIFETIME" memories! Good job guys!
Like I always say. "It just don't get any better"!

This was pretty much an average day at that spot. Especially in May and June, if you don't catch 20 9-10 inchers and a couple of 1 lbers...it's an off day. I weighed a 9 incher and it went 13 oz.
Conroe is a great bream fishery! I have seen some super post over the years from Conroe! Those Gills look fat and full of fight!
Side Note: Good eats.

None- we go to Petsmart--they sell them for lizard food. Usually run 12 cents a piece but they always give you extra since they don't want to count them out.

Totally Agree! It just don't get any better!
Side Note: Do you always use crickets for your live bait on the sunnies?

Pretty much, occasionally I will use Meal worms. However; trout magnet jigs are great and do better than regular worms.

Thanks! Looks like you got some great results on the crickets.

I would love to get my kids onto some blue gill at Conroe. Not asking for secret locations or anything, but do you guys have broad recommendations on where I could take them? I've only bass fished the upper reaches of the lake a few times (e.g., Stubblefield area).

Nice fish! I'd also like to find some bank spots on Conroe to take my kids (6 and 4). I tried the park and IHOP on 105, Cagle, and FM 830 boat launch last fall with "meh" results. Stubblefield was closed in the fall, but is it back open? I've heard that's a good area.
