Fishing Report. 4/12 and 4/13. - 04/14/18 12:37 PM
Was able to fish two of my three days off this week. Fished Lake Mcqueeney on 4/12 and the Blanco River 4/13. Fished from the kayak both days. Also waded and fly fished the Blanco. Spinning gear and flyrod was used. Used top water beetle poppers, sinking Crawdads, sinking Grasshoppers, and various small spinning lures. I did see some sunfish on nest while fishing the Blanco. The Blanco bite was good. Caught some nice Bluegill holding in shallow water 2 to 4 feet deep. Also picked up some Redear and Redbreast. Redear were in shallow water holding close to grass beds with the Redbreast. The bite on Mcqueeney was also good. Used ultralight spinning gear. Caught Bluegill on the main channel by docks in 8 to 10 feet of water. Caught several nice Crappie in the main lake using jigs(Chartreuse/Black) that were close to the Treasure Island bridge. Also managed to catch two nice Rios using a White Rooster Tail holding close to the bank in shallow water by the ski cove. Six Bass in the 2 to 5 pound range rounded out the catch. Both water bodies are in good condition. Stay safe out there.
