2000 Ford F250 7.3 - 09/03/15 09:11 PM

Hey guys,
I am looking for some ideas for my truck. I have a black 2000 F 250 4x4, 7.3 diesel, 340,000 miles. Truck has been bulletproof since I have had it. I bought it in 2001. My question is... whats it worth? The plastic parts of the truck are in need of some love. The seats are leather, and torn.. they have covers on them. I am still running the original transmission, etc.. I haven't done anything to the truck other than oil changes, a water pump, batteries, etc. Minor issues. The 4x4 does not work, someone told me its a vacuum line? Just looking for some ideas on if I want to sink money into this or sale and get something else. Thanks in advance...

What would the "get something else be"?

I will say that those old 7.3's are bringing a premium for a reason.

I am looking for a newer gas vehicle. I do have a boat, but do not haul it very far.

I guess if your tired of the noise and high prices oil changes then get something else. You will get a decent price for that truck if you sell it.

What ballpark would it realistically sale for?

The 7.3 was the best diesel that Ford has ever built. They should have stuck with a good thing.

A 4x4 7.3 in good shape brings good money for an older pickup. Sounds like yours has its fair share of cosmetic as well as mechanical issues and 340k +/- miles on the clock. I wouldn't get your hopes up, its not worth much unless you plan on putting money into it to sell it.

And I do not really want to put money into to sell it... Ball park wise what do ya'll think? I have seen them on autotrader from 5k to 15k. Large range of prices.

KBB shows 8695 for fair condition...

This is KBB fair criteria:

Requires some mechanical repairs
The paint and bodywork may require refinishing and body repair
The engine compartment has leaks and may require repairs
May have some repairable rust damage
The body has dents, chips, and/or scratches
The interior has substantial wear, and may have small tears
Wheels may be warped or bent, have major scratches, scrapes, or pitting and require replacement
The tires may not match and need replacing
Needs servicing, but is still in reasonable running condition with a clean title history
A few service records are available

Im not a used car salesman or a private property appraiser, but I spend a good deal of time perusing used diesel pickups.

From what I see the only ones to make the $15k range are in great condition with reasonably low miles.

340k miles, not working 4x4, and a worn interior I would think you would be lucky to get $5K.

On the other hand ive never laid eyes on the truck.

I got 4k on a trade in in 2012 for my 2000 F-250 ext cab 7.3 with 420,000 on it.

It was rode hard and put up wet. But still started and pulled anything you wanted too

Sorry nothing to add but it always amazes me to see how many miles some folks put on a vehicle.

My father in law is driving a chevy silverado with 490,000 currently. No issues. He bought it new and just does normal maintenance.

My own thoughts , keep it , repair all the little items , the new tucks are over rated , too much "stuff" on them , I have a 99 250 crew cab 4x4 7.3 , couple years ago looked at the new trucks , too much $$$$ . This is my thoughts Thanks

Easy you'll get kbb or buyers uses nada, that's what you get paid. Some ford freaks and kids will pay over priced because they have heard how cool the 7.3 is. Best advice.... Keep it I've had my 7.3 for 8 years and changed one starter and 2 alternator and some front in preventative maintenance. You can get a complete re-man from ford with warranty for around 5500
