recall work

my 2007 chevy trail blazer has several recall,going to dealer this week for repairs,how can I prevent the dealer for charging me for some other work they did.Would going to Moritz prevent this?

You are going to need to explain this a little more in detail. Your dealer did work on your vehicle and you don't want to pay? If it's recall work under warranty, you don't have anything to worry about.

Is the repair work going to be under warranty? Sounds unlikely for a 2007. I agree with Tommie - we need more detail.

Dealer should not do work that you do not authorize. If they do then do not pay and never go back.

I think what he is saying is his truck has recalls (covered just like warranty, you dont pay a dime) And that he just wants to make sure they dont do any additional work without his approval thus costing him money. Any decent dealership should be calling you for approval for any other repairs. If they dont they are running a pretty crooked business and I would avoid that place like the plague!

Just make sure and tell them when you drop it off that it's for warranty work only. If they try to charge you, talk to the manager. If he won't help, call the BBB. If you need it back quickly and they didn't give you a loaner and they're trying to charge you, just tell them you're going to call the police and report the car stolen if they don't give it back. And if they don't, call the police and report what's happening.

When I was getting free oil changes I would tell the service writer not to waste his time or mine pulling my air filters and bringing them to me. One thing I hate is service writers turned parts salesmen.

So if your air filter was dirty clogged and black you wouldnt want to know about it? Its also the service advisors job to tell you if the technician finds anything while doing your oil change, which in turn, means he will be trying to sell you the parts you need. Its their job. Most places, if they are run right, will not sell you something you don't need. We dont do it at my dealership. i know there are some out there that do but dont throw us all into the same category.

They don't put a sign out front that says which ones are honest and which ones aren't.

Personally, I've never dealt with one that was honest.

recall work is on part no.2,but it cost 75.00 to move part no.1 out of the way in order to get to part no.2

Sorry to hear that but there are some good ones out there. My best advice would be to research and get all the info and feedback you can on whatever dealership you are thinking about going to.

That's BS if a dealership is telling you that. Or at least thats not the way Ford recalls work. The recall should cover removal and re installation of all necessary parts. Not just the part that failed. If that makes sense.

Nathan is right. Recall work should cover everything required to perform the recall.

Only time I've ever had that not be quite true is when Chevy was doing a recall where they covered parts only for speedometer failures. It was not a failure that should have been covered past 60k miles at all. But Chevy paid for parts anyway out of the goodness of their hearts. Cost me $100 labor to get the entire gauge cluster replaced.

mine would never be dirty clogged and black so I tell them up front not to bother. I do all of my own routine maintenance now because for one I do not trust anyone else to do it right and it is a lot more convenient.

Well that makes sense then. But you would be surprised at the way some people neglect their cars. I do all my own maintenance (and repairs if I can) as well. That way I know exactly what has been done and replaced.

A lot of people don't take care of their vehicles. A cowrker of mine got all pizzed the other day because he popped a radiator hose at lunch. I asked him how long it had been since he replaced the hose. He said it was a factory hose... the truck is a 2002 with 270k miles on it...

recall is no cost to you. take it to another dealer. Or call Chevy.
