Carlise trailer tires

Put new Carlise radial trail trailer tires around the boat last week.. Left Monday for 3 days up to Rayburn/Toledo Bend. One of the tires got all bent out of shape and crooked somehow and rattle the trailer around so bad that it shook my fender boards loose. I didn't even notice it until yesterday morning because it had to happen between Toledo Bend and on our way back to Twin Dikes at 9 o'clock at night on 255, which is why never noticed it until the next morning going to the ramp..

Biggest pieces of junk I've ever had. Didn't even have 200 miles on them.

They used to be much better tires 10 or 15 years ago, but yes now they are carp, never again!!!!

I would buy P or LT tires with enough weight rating to hold your load.

I actually just got back from getting my new shoes on it. The owner of the shop was generous enough to give me my money back on that Carlise junk and order me a brand new set of tires for a discount. I ended up getting CargoMax tires. Pretty interesting, they are 205 75 R14, but they are 8 ply and load range D with an 80mph speed rating.They seem like a well built beefed up tire. I've always had the 6 ply trailer tires... I'm curious to see how well these 8 plies hold up!!

good to know. I always ran Carlisle bias ply and never even had a flat in 30 years. They may not ride as smooth as radials but durability was excellent. I have radials on Champion trailer now so that is what I will stick with. With a 5000 load I will be doing some serious research before replacing them.

What prop are you running on the Majek?

Well, my main prop is a 26p 4 blade Turbo OT4.. I got some ramp rash with that one, and just haven't spent the extra money to fix it yet. Current prop is a 25p 3 blade Fury. I get about 57mph WOT with the Fury and around 64 with the Turbo.. Something about that extra blade/pitch.

I've never had bias ply tires.. I haul too much longer trips for them. From my understanding they are good for shorter trips, but radials are for your long hauls to keep them cool..

I actually had about 5-6k miles on a set of Power King Towmax tires before someone decided to slash them.....

They were cheaper Chinese tires, but they were great! Not a single failure and I tow 75-80mph even on the Texas hot summer black top interstates.. They stayed nice and cool, followed the truck perfect, very little tread wear, and never a failure.. Matter in fact all summer before I headed out for a longer trip to Rayburn or wherever I always told myself they are going to blow out this trip.. Sure enough, 75mph in 100 degrees for long periods of time, I get home with all 4 tires perfect!

I think the best trailer tires I've ever seen are Goodyear Marathons.. My boat is a 2008.. I'm the 2nd owner. I finally had to replace the Marathons it came with because there was no tread left! Sure enough, I look at the date on the tires.. 2007!!! They ran for 10 years and probably a million miles and never blew out!!!

Carlisle trailer tires=Class A #1 nothing.
I've had about 4 sets because of buying boats with them on em. Never again, they blow out and separate every time. Pay a little more and get a better set of tires.

I use Carlisle radial trailer tires and absolutely love them. The current set are 3 years old and look like I just put them on. I have run Carlisle trailer tires for probably 45 years and have never had any problems. I do keep them properly inflated at all times and I do treat them with tire shine, and keep them out of the sun while in storage.

The problem though is that these were literally just installed.. Like, I had them installed Sunday, and left for Rayburn/Toledo Bend Monday morning.. On the way back from Toledo to where we were staying on Rayburn is when all hell broke loose.
