Fall Time Carping ! - 10/31/17 06:27 PM

Myself and Clayton "Wildman of the Navidad" went carping and did pretty good. We caught three nice carp. The smallest was in the 12 pound range and the two largest were in the 15 pound range. Clayton caught one on ultralight tackle with four pound test line. Fish were caught on corn and all were released to fight again. Getting in on some Carp action. It just don't get any better! fish

Thanks Gitter and BendaRod(WC) for the replies. Gitter: I have never fished for Carp during the winter. I have been told that they feed during the winter months and to take advantage of the warm spells. Going to give it a try this winter! cheers

In the summer I pop grasshoppers with my flyrod in the rivers and usually catch carp each outing. They are a great fight and when the water is shallow the runs can be really long.

I have a spot on a south Texas River that is shallow! Use night crawlers on my ultra light and get GREAT FIGHTS from the 3 to 5 pound carp boxing . Love the fight those fish produce. cheers

Side Note: I owe a lot to the anglers who post in this section. I have learned a lot over the years by reading their post. It also helps to fish with someone who really knows about Carp fishing. Clayton aka The Wildman of the Navidad is a GREAT person to fish with! thumb
